Well what a week. Its been ridiculously hot, and despite promising I wouldn't, I've moaned about it constantly (off-air thankfully).

I did make it to the beach one afternoon, tried to go in the sea... managed to dip my toe in, and then much squeeling and staggering across sharp stones later, I was safely back on my beach towel. Wuss.

Been an exciting one this week. Firstly, big thanks to Jordan AKA Tall Dark Friend for coming in yesterday - he won Rockhatch @ Knockhatch band competition at Freedom Fun Festival despite being a one-man band.

He performed his own track and a cover of Hallelujah. Completely honestly, he's easily one of the best live performers I've ever seen (and I've seen Keith Chegwin) - stunning voice, great charisma, and brilliant tunes.

If you missed his performance, I urge you to go to his myspace - www.myspace.com/yourtalldarkfriend

In other not so brilliant news, Sarah Powell fluked victory in The Juice Apprentice. Sir Ryan Sugar didn't take kindly to my Brighton shower gel - despite containing 'crushed sea shells to exfoliate' (try saying that after a few pints).

So Sarah won, and took home the grand prize... a signed photo of Sir Ryan Sugar.

    I'm green with envy. Really.

Although I am expecting it to appear on ebay soon so get bidding!

Have a great weekend folks xx

  • What a week...

Heya, what a crazy 7 days its been, where to start...

Last weekend I had the most amazing time at Silverstone - all the talk was of this potential splitting of Formula 1 into a rival championship - I was more concerned with getting behind the BBC camera, and I did so - you could see me on Saturday ebfore qualifying, flexing my 'muscles' behind Eddie Jordan. Dignified I know...

Then it was all about H&M - massive launch party Wednesday night which was brilliant - the cocktails flowed, the nibbles were munched and the checkouts rang - and faithful listener Tasha told me a rather graphic story how H&M security didn't take kindly to her trying ona catsuit that was far too small for her. I'll let you build up the visual picture.

If you did come, hope you had a great night, was a pleasure to meet so many of you!

Saw The Saturdays last night - actually very good, despite the irritating factor of hundreds of screaming 12 year olds determined to destroy whats left of my ear drums.

Then, just when I thought the week was winding down, I got in last night to find out that Michael Jackson had died aged 50. No doubt its going to dominate the headlines for weeks to come, but regardless of personal opinion, there's no denying the massive impact he had on popular music, and I for one will always remember his brilliant talent.

I'll be at Freedom Fun Festival @ Knockhatch farm tomorrow, DJing from about 10pm (and helping judge Rockhatch band competition earlier in the night) so fingers crossed for good weather.

    Have a fab weekend

  • Yasmina steals it
    Added
    06/08/2009 - 14:29

    Well, I'm shocked!

I knew Yasmina was a front-runner, but no way did I think she'd beat off cast-iron Kate in the final.

She seemed to lack organisation in the chocolate task, with ice-cool Kate breezing it.

I think Sir Alan has a thing for Brunettes. With strange moon mouths. Upside down moon at that!

Still, brilliant TV, made even more so by the announcement of the Juice Apprentice - 4 Juice presenters - Me, Guy, Andrea & Sarah - going head to head for the big job.

The Juice Apprentice begins this Thursday @ 2pm - don't miss it!!!

Hello stranger, its been a while!

How have you been? I've been rather busy - loads going on in Brighton, only just recovered from May's festival shenanigans.

The Jukebox is storming along, thanks for asking! Various workplaces have been on, today we have the lovely Billy Jo in the NHS - she once had a crush on Michael Jackson and lost a shoe at a Justin Timberlake concert in Paris. A sense a film adaptation in the works...

www.juicebrighton.com/jukebox - you know you want to play along!

Andrea. Poor, smug Andrea. So confident that she would be all-conquering before the Big Breakfast Quiz began way back in February. And yet she's lingering at the bottom of the leaderboard, alongside Guy, for 2009 so far.

Last month she was soundly beaten and faced a forfeit - busking in Pav gardens. But not only did she only do 20 minutes of the full hour required, she hired a professional guitarist to help her out. A half-arsed attempt if ever I heard one.

She was dreadful, bless her. Evidence on the homepage, have a watch (and unfortunately, you should listen)

Penultimate Apprentice tonight - Lorraine to lose!

    Full review tomorrow...

    Hello you,

Hope you enjoyed the first ever Jukebox - I think its going to be here for a while. The basic concept is someone from a workplace somewhere in Brighton & Hove, picking 6 songs - 2 from the 80s, 2 from the 90s and 2 from the 00s.

Got off to a great start today as Helen from Quiksilver & Roxy picked some corkers - MGMT Kids alongside Jazzy Jeff, who's have thought it. She even managed a cheap plug for a special offer they're running today!

Juicebrighton.com/jukebox to enter - go on, do it!

This week's album of the week is Green Day - '21st Century Breakdown' - gone straight to #1 in the album charts. Make sure you listen to the show from tomorrow for your chance to win.

And its giveaways galore this week. 5 tickets a day for you and your mates (or work colleagues) to Brighton Racecourse on Friday afternoon.

Finally, big thank you to Fletch Productions for providing one of the most fun nights I've had in ages - the Moulin Rouge singalong @ St Andrews Church opposite the Iron Duke.

A church. A vicar. A hymm sheet. And a big projector showing a classic musical. Absolute genius, made even more so but being allowed a tipple as you sing.

Bugsy Malone this Sunday @ 5pm, St Peters Church - highly recommended by yours truly!

So, first of all, I should say goodbye to the Vault as we know it - 6 songs, but what's the year... is a question I'll only be asking during my cheesier DJ gigs. But alas, we had the last ever Vault, as we know it, today...

And WHAT a year. Babylon Zoo - Spaceman, Prodigy - Firestarter, and Livin Joy - Don't Stop Moving. 1996 of course. You think you would've got the hang of this by now...

In all honesty, I'm bloody awful at guessing the year. I blame being very young or very drunk. Or both.

Something else that brought a tear to my eye - the epic, stunning, brilliant new single by David Guetta featuring Kelly Rowland. I'm expecting big things from this over the summer, and I'm normally right. Apart from my forecast for Same Difference being number 1. I guess 12 year olds had a though week and didn't shill out...

So, tis the weekend - have a lovely one whatever you're up to, I'm going to attempt a self tan to continue my "healthy living" mantra of late. I hate a banana AND an apple today. Finished off nicely with a Galaxy Ripple... yum.

    Go me!

    xx

  • Bank Holiday madness

    05/06/2009 - 15:07

Who else is enjoying all these Bank Holidays at the moment? I still have to do the show and yet always go out the night before and just 'pretend' I have the next day off. Great fun.

Highlight of the week thus far - Guy Lloyd, for one night only (please god one night only), as Brian - Ultimate Lady. With all the grace of a confused gorilla, Guy plodded about the stage massacring Shania Twain's hit "Man I feel like a woman" - and Guy certainly did.

    Evidence at www.juicebrighton.com/Breakfast

I got off to the perfect start in the Big Breakfast Quiz - 2 points and an early lead, with Andrea Fox failing to get off the mark. She's long overdue some good public humiliation methinx...

More Apprentice genius expected tonight - thankfully Noorul went last week just as we hear the news he's having an affair with a married grandmother. An image that I will take to the grave for sure.

And I had Juice's very first play of the Freemasons new song with Sophie Ellis Bextor - 'Heartbreak make me a dancer' - and its ruddy good!

But make sure you listen to the show Friday for a song that I've been obsessed with for weeks, and one that I GENUINELY think will be the biggest song of the summer on dancefloors in Brighton and beyond...

    I'll give you a clue - she's not Beyonce...

  • It's the weekend!!!

    04/24/2009 - 16:00

hello you, am I the only one who thinks its been an odd week?

Yesterday especially - there was a strange "I can't be bothered attitude" at Juice Towers (apart from me obviously boss) - to celebrate, I knocked over my Juice Award 2008 (best pants) in a stroppy teenager temper tantrum way. It felt good till I realised I had to clear it up.

Maybe it was St George's Day fever - as we were all thinking we should have a bank holiday. Even thought St George never slew a dragon... and never even VISITED England. I'm personally campaigning for my French Andre to be the new patron saint - he's also never visited England but he makes a mean Shepherds Pie.

The Apprentice was all SORTS of genius this week - I'm still in shock that 6 candidates genuinely though that 'Pants Man' would be a good mascot for a kid's Breakfast Cereal. Personal highlight was Mona's shockign explanation of Pants Man. BBC iplayer it if you missed it!

Flo Rida albums galore this week - Ric in Elm Grove finally won a copy after sending abusive text after abusive text - abusive about Flo Rida, not me, you understand...

Next week - the Noisettes, and a major announcement regarding the Vault...
