Daughters of the late Dame Anita Roddick have unveiled a commemorative blue plaque marking the shop in which their mother started the Body Shop empire.
Dame Anita’s first shop opened in Kensington Gardens, Brighton, in March 1976.
The plaque was funded by long-term family friend and business colleague Vida Zandnia, who attended the ceremony along with Dame Anita’s husband Gordon.
Cllr Older said: “This is where the Body Shop began and now the many visitors and residents who stroll along Kensington Gardens every day will be aware of it, thanks to Vida's generosity.
“It was a great pleasure to meet Anita's husband and daughters and it was a proud day for them, and for the city.”
