Police are appealing for witnesses after thief claiming to ask for a quote for his nan's funeral made off with a Help for Heroes charity collection from Payne and Son.
He is described as white, aged 16-17, with pale skin and freckles and ginger hair
A red-headed thief claiming to be seeking a quote for his nan's funeral made off with a Help for Heroes charity collection.
The thief struck at Payne and Sons funeral directors in Seaside, Eastbourne, on Friday afternoon (June 29). Having leaned his red pushbike up against the window just after 12 noon he went inside and told staff that his nan had died and his mother had sent him to get a price for her funeral. At some point he removed the charity box and made off.
He is described as white, aged 16-17, very pale skin with freckles, very ginger hair, wearing navy tracksuit bottoms with a red stripe tucked into socks and a dark navy polo shirt.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, saw the suspect in the area or recognises his description is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 1220 of 29/06.
