- BRIGHTON'S LOCAL TREASURESAdded07/03/2009 - 09:46
Hello and good morning to you. No Andrea today, she’s in for Sarah this afternoon who is up in London watching Blur. We kicked the Power Shower Hour off with an artist that has just been confirmed for Wireless on Sunday, Calvin Harris and ‘I’m not alone.’ I had a pair of tickets for the Wireless Festival on Sunday, headlined by Kanye West and Gary was the quickest on the phone, grabbing a pair for him and his good lady.
The Top 10 British National Treasures was released today, with William Shakespeare taking the number one spot (I really like his new stuff). I would have gone for the good old cup of tea to be honest. On the back of this I opened the lines on Brighton’s local treasures. We had seagulls going through the rubbish, pebbles, Norm and Zoe and my personal favourite, Chris Eubank pretending to talk on his phone.
Talking of Brighton treasures, the coach of Sussex Sharks, Mark Robinson, popped in this morning to talk about Sunday’s Friends Provident Trophy Semi-Final against Gloucestershire. He also thinks that England have a fighting chance against Australia in the ashes this summer. Congratulations to Rhys who will be a mascot for the day and will be hading to Hove on Sunday with his family.
I’m off now but I’ll be down at Paddle round the pier all weekend, so pop down and say hello. Normal service will resume with Foxy on Monday.
Have a good weekend.
- Breakfast turns Pets CornerAdded07/02/2009 - 09:25
Today’s Power Shower Hour track metal Iron Maiden Run To The Hills. Bit of mental metal for a Thursday.
In a Blue Peter style Guy made a spaceship out of junk in the house, with his son you understand! Much more fun than the tennis. I was enjoying a sea swim in between the pier’s yesterday (yeah, with the tourists) which was nice, apart from my cut foot. Guy thinks it could have been a shark…
Talking of creatures, me and Guy were excited at the prospect of kittens! A friend has a swarm of cat’s that need new homes. Mrs Guy says no though, even though he’s already come up with a name. Dave. Geoff has three cats called Lucy, Rosie and DAVE! Beaten to it Guy! Eight year old Ned got his cat from the cats protection league and says it’s the best thing his family ever did… ahh! Jo in Brighton say they are very cute, but little buggers. She has a 14 week old ginger ninja kitten called Oscar. Apparently they have you up all night. If you move in bed they are at your feet biteing and scratching. Jo’s arms and legs look like a scene out of Wolverine!
Well done to Tim Jones who won our Wireless Festival tickets for Saturday when Basement Jaxx will be headlining. I’m heading down there too! Jonesy and Sarah also have tickets for this Saturday up for grabs so stay tuned if you missed out.
Jo was today’s Gala Bingo winner. As well as getting her mitts on £100 to spend at Gala, she’s also got a tent and bbq to play with!
Final of the Juice Apprentice is at 2pm this afternoon. Tune in to find out who wins out of Sarah and Jonesy!
Guy’s back tomorrow and I’ll be covering Sarah’s Drive show!

- IRN-BRU TO WIN WIMBLEDONAdded07/01/2009 - 09:47
Good morning and welcome to our breakfast blog for Wednesday. We kicked off today’s show by playing Ian Dury and the Blockheads; ‘Hit me with your rhythm stick.’ It’s a classic and it got to No.1 in 1978. The proof is in the pudding.
We talked about Andy Murray today, on the eve of his quarter-final match today. He was pictured in the papers doing press-ups with his feet off the floor! He’s been dubbed ‘Iron Man’ by the tabloids, we reckon ‘Irn Bru,’ suits him better, as he’s Scottish un’all. We played a clip of Andy describing a chilli Grubbs burger. He sounds a lot like a young Sean Connery, or Alan Hansen, or Mel Gibson in Braveheart or the Krankies.
Andrea did her forfeit yesterday on New Rd, just round the corner from Juice Towers. She was selling her autograph for a pound to raise money for the Rockinghorse appeal. She raised a total of £1.96 for the charity. Rubbish. Check out the footage below filmed by Quizmaster Kirk.
So the Juice Breakfast Show kicked off for July with the return of the gang and low and behold Andrea Fox won! Jonesy stole second spot after a tie-break and yours truly finished last.
We also chatted to David Somerville about Paddle round the pier, which kicks off this weekend. We’ll be broadcasting live from Hove Lawns this Saturday. For more details check out www.paddleroundthepier.com
We’ll be back in the morning from 7am.

- GUY’S STALKING GOES TO GLASTONBURYAdded06/30/2009 - 10:10
“He’s back, he’s back, you know it…”
Today’s Power Shower Hour track was Blur’s Tender.
A song Guy blubbed to at that little village fete you might have heard of called Glastonbury.Guy still managed to play for the Juice Allstars last night. Thanks to Tim from Sussex County Cricket Club and Quizmaster Kirk, they beat YFB 3-2. I’m too shocked for words.
Glastonbury was a bit rubbish for poor old Guy then. He hardly had a sniff of a famous person as you can see from the photos. Never mind, there’s always next year.
Despite winning the quiz last week (thank you, thank you) I lost over all so it’s forfeit time for me today. If you fancy my autograph (very well practiced!) then it’ll cost you a quid. I’ll be on North Street and it’ll all go to the Rockinghorse Appeal I’ve decided. Lets hope my hand doesn’t get tired.
Jonesy’s film preview brought us all the gossip for films including Avatar, Indiana Jones, Batman, Wanted 2 and Angelina Jolie is too old to play Lara Croft so it looks like the role could go to Megan Fox. No relation. Unfortunately.
This month you can check out Ice Age 3, Transformers and Bruno at the Odeon on West Street. Well done to Jo today who won tickets for knowing Borat was from Kazakhstan.Whaling is apparently on the rise. We chatted to Chris from the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society about the awareness raising event on Sunday 12th July -Walk for Whales. The five mile walk starts at 9:30am from the Sea Life Centre, and there’s loads of great prizes if you raise the most cash! Including Merlin passes, the chance to feed the sharks and turtles at the Sea Life Centre and even a Whale Watching Holiday in Scotland.

What does that button do again.
I think I pulled it off today! Nice to be back! How the devil have you been? Thanks to Sarah for looking after you whilst Guy and I have both been away.
I've been in Spain, checking out the Sonar festival in Barcelona. Saw Grace Jones and got a little taste of what we can expect at Beachdown.
I'm sunburnt and a bit freckly but had a lovely time- apart from getting pick-pocketed!
This morning we talked about the things you do on holiday (apart from being pick-pocketed) that you don't ever do when at home. I was wearing Gladiator sandles all holiday (ugly but so so comfy) and drank warm sangria, Joe emailed in saying 'I style my hair, even if i'm just going to sit on the beach. I never worry about my hair at home. Ever.' and Juliet got involved on the text saying 'When in Europe I always have to have a beer with the big head in a fancy glass. I hate beer?!'
I hate sangria but apparently, when in Rome/Barcelona!Whilst on holiday I did a bit of sight-seeing and checked out the Sagrada Familia. When there I was stood next to an American couple and couldn't help but overhear one ask 'what are you taking photos of?' to which the other replied 'the effing building!'
Speaking of American tourists, Pete got in touch about how when he was at Pevensy Castle over the weekend he overheard an American couple say 'What a beatiful castle... What a shame they built it so close to a road'. Sometimes they just don't get it, do they?We also talked Wimbledon: it's Andy Murray versus his best mate, No. 19 seed and Switzerland's no. 2, Stanislas Wawrinka. Bit of gossip for ya; this Wawrinka chap is pretty good and has beaten Swiss no. 1 Roger Federer... at Ping Pong. Let's hope he doesn't disrupt the British no. 1's journey to the final.
Apparently Sean Connery gave a little call to Andy wishing him the best of luck.
And we spoke to Guy, stuck in the back of a Camper Van leaving Glasto, who sounded... well... let's just say 'a little worse for wear.' He had a pretty special weekend though; hanging out with the great and good from Lily Allen to Maximo Park, from Graham Coxon to Harry Enfield, brekkie with friend of the show VV Brown AND Status Quo, were among his personal highlights.
We played Blur's 'the Universal' in celebration of one of the best Glastonbury's in recent years. He's going to tell us ALL about his surreal Peaches Geldof moment when he returns on tomorrows show! CIAO!
- The Final Get UpAdded06/26/2009 - 10:19
Morning Beautiful! How are you?! It's Frrrrrrida!! Woo Hoo!! Also means the last time I'm with you in the morning, aww, don't worry Andrea' back on Monday adn Guy'll be with her on Tuesday...
One of my favourites has been the Power Shower, great tracks for 7.35 cobwebs...On Wednesday, we had a little bit of Happy Mondays with 'Step On'. Thursday's track was Muse's 'Plug in Baby' which went off! and today Iggy Pop was your Power Shower Hour with 'the Passenger'.
Guy was on the phone, little damp from Glasto antics, last night Maximo Park were the only band to play (so everyone went to see them) Guy was there, wellied up, few beers, feeling fresh and caught up with them after so I played you a bit of what happened... Said it was the weirdest thing to hear about Michael Jackson there, you almost wonder if it's true but their doing tributes all weekend there. LIly Allen's playing tonight, along with Neil Young and Guy will be back (in some form) next week.
If youre not going to Glasto Freedom Fun is happening this weekend..A big congrats to Gary, who won our last pair of Freedom Fun festival tickets for his missus. Have a lovely time at Knockhatch Farm this weekend gorgeous!
AND FINALLY...
Played you Hey Boy Hey Girl if you're expecting exam results today, like producer Kirk who claimed the 2:1's in the bag, if it's not, we shall never speak of it again... Good luck lovelies!! Don't worry if not!!
Thanks for all your lovely calls texts and emails to the show over the last few days- aww you guys! See you Monday from 3, have a mega weekend...
Much love Sarah xoxo
- Booze & Breakfast... Aches!Added06/25/2009 - 10:37
Morning lovely! So Day Two and I couldn't do it could I? 3 nights in whilst I covered breakfast- that's all THREE! And I had a rubarb Martini too many last night, little heady today...
Brilliant night though at the H&M launch, nice one if I saw you there, hope you got something divine! The Maccabees were divine and I've decided I want one, just to keep at home, feed grapes, that sort of thing...
I can claim to a bit of fashion history- I was the first person to buy anything in that gorgeous new shop, opens officially today on Western Road at midday.
Which brings me nicely on the fabulous Kim who bagged herself £100 vouchers to spend there! She's off on holiday and hasn't saved her pennies like she should have so now she can go wild! Go on girl...
It was giveaway-o-rama this morning, Producer Kirk has repetitive strain disorder from answering the phone, moaner...
Jeanette won our Saturdays head-to-head against Samantha to see who knew most about the Saturdays, turns out neither of them were really hot on them but Jeanette powered through risking it all and she gets 2 tickets and a meet-and-greet with the Saturdays at the Dome tonight - for photos and cuddles!
Marcus matched our three Bingo Ringo numbers to his phone-number and gets £100 Gala Bingo vouchers and meal for 2 at Coral Greyhound stadium AND if that wasn't enough, Alan got himself a pair of weekend tickets to Freedom Fun Festival this weekend, worth £50 each! Tasty!
We caught up with Guy at Glasto as well, asking him what he wants on his rider (the Black Eyed Peas is OBSCENE) he said one thing... a night with Lily Allen. Good Luck with that love...
We'll chat to him tomorrow and I will be here for the final time!
Massive huge love, look out for Jo covering my show later today!
Sarah xox
- 9 o'clock?! What.. in the morning?!Added06/24/2009 - 10:26
Well hello there gorgeous!!
Guy's camping it up at Glasto and Andrea's somewhere in Spain so for the rest of this week it's the newly-titled 'Sarah with Louise cos Guy and Andrea are Away Breakfast Show'. Rolls off the tongue, don't you reckon!?
Yes that's right it's me, Sarah, of afternoon fame looking after you while they're off- it's a hard life for a breakfast show.
Getting up was alright actually- bit of a novelty, like getting up to go on holiday, nice... we'll see tomorrow...
Jonesy triumphed in the one-off Wimbledon edition of the Breakfast Quiz this morning. It was a close one, with Quizmaster Kirk umpiring over a very close game between Jonesy and my good self but he ended up winning it, Game Set and Match, on his Disney knowledge of all things! Hakuna Matata...
And Ruth, lovely Ruth was the winner of our pair of Freedom Fun Festival weekend tickets this morning. Well done love! Back tomorrow with more... I'm also playing you clips from each of the bands who are in the final to headline on Sat night! Nice. Today it was metal boys Soul Sanctuary from Hastings...
I'll be at the big H&M launch night doing my thing- with the Maccabees!! Well done if you squeezed yourself onto the guestlist!!
See you tomorrow lovely,
S xoxo

Dear Guy and juice all-stars
its chris here, former top goalscorer for juice all-stars and now team let-down. sorry for getting sent off last night, it cost us promotion and our shot at glory. my big scottish mouth has got me into trouble in the past but never at this level of football. now i know what david beckham felt like after the world cup in 98. they are burning effergies of me outside a pub on west street and they have published a dart board of my face in the argus. sorry once again, i am away to dye my hair and grow a moustache. Chris Stewart.

Thank you Mila for your impeccable taste. Ignore Jonesy. He secretly loves me but is unable to express his true feelings. And it's eating him up inside...
I can assure you Mila, he's had alot of work done... when the harsh studio light catches his face, he looks a bit like Bruce Forsyth
