- GORDON BROWN ON NINE A DAYAdded02/08/2010 - 11:00
Morning and welcome to Monday’s blog. We kicked off the week with one of my Mum’s favourite songs, ‘Stop the Cavelry,’ by Jonah Lewie. Strictly speaking, a bit of a Christmas song but there is snow in Brighton! Yes, it’s the return of the white stuff. Apparently settling in the Dyke Road area.
Is Chivalry dead? Well according to a recent poll, us blokes need to pull out finger out. Girls need respect and romance and we (the male population) are falling short of the mark. I’m fairly good at buying flowers, I’ve never written a poem and I will open a door, as long as it’s not too heavy. Hospital doors, for example, are quite heavy. Try and bear all this in mind in the lead up to Valentines Day.
Gordon Brown is addicted to Kit Kats, according to his missus. Sarah has ordered Gordon to stop eating them and replace his habit with banana’s. Nine bananas’s a day, to be precise. We think that’s too big a jump for Gord and that he should wean himself off the Kit Kats, with maybe a week of Curly Wurly’s, Fudge or a Freddo and then move onto bananas on the second week.
Gus Poyet lost his rag on the weekend. Albion got a useful point away at Leyton Orient but Gus was not a happy man. He had a go at the referee and was consequently sent to the stands. We speculated if Gus had sworn at the referee in English or Spanish. We reckon it was Spanish, as he could get away with more expletives (assuming the Referee wasn’t Spanish).
We chatted to TV columnist for the Daily Star, Mike Ward about the week ahead on the box. Highlights, or lowlights, depending on your view, include Delia explaining her infamous rant on the pitch of her beloved Norwich City in ‘Delia Through The Decades.,’ on BBC 2 tonight. ‘Super Nanny,’ Jo frost returns with ‘Extreme Parental Guidance,’ tomorrow night on Channel 4. Looking ahead to the weekend, The Winter Olympics kicks off on Friday with the opening ceremony in Vancouver and it’s the final of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ on Saturday on BBC 1, with a special performance from Robbie Williams.
Andrea's forfeit was called off at the weekend, due to Health and Safety concerns. However, Jonesy and I did an alternative fitness class outside. Check it out below.
That’s it from us, we’ll be back from 7am tomorrow morning with Jonesy’s Odeon Cinema Review.
- Guy and Jonesy have the moves!Added02/08/2010 - 10:31
- Friday feelingAdded02/05/2010 - 12:14
Morning and welcome to our blog for Friday. Yes that’s Friday! We love Friday’s, better than Thursday but not quite as good as Saturday’s. We kicked off with a Power Shower Hour track this morning, related to an artist coming this weekend. Today’s Power Shower Hour track today was Chesney Hawkes,’I Am The One And Only.’ He’s playing The Freebutt on Saturday.
The Australian band, Men At Work, may have to go back to work it seems. They’ve been found guilty of pinching a bit of a nursery rhyme! Back to work for them to pay that legal bill.
We chatted to Gerry Anderson creator of the show Thunderbirds on the show today – look out for a Thunderbirds return soon.
Becks hilariously changed Posh’s ring tone to Sexy Thing, what a card! I want Vanilla Ice as my ringtone, but Guy wants the grandstand theme.
Royalty are taking over soaps! Camila looked at home at the Rovers the other day, see could have been an extra! Prince William for Eastenders perhaps? Prince Harry for Hollyoaks?
See you at Churchill Square tomorrow at lunchtime!
- Andre No ShowAdded02/04/2010 - 10:36
Today the Chemical Brothers Let Forever Be was the song that got us out of bed.
Guy has been trying to get his head around meditation, which may come in useful if you suffer from Queue Rage. Apparently almost half of us have experienced this, including Tasha who saw lots of couples arguing over Christmas, and Alan who has seen some petrol station rage. I don’t think Guy’s visualisation and breathing exercises helped. Andy helped more with his suggestion of this song linked to this story – Beautiful South You Keep It All In!
The Brighton 0 team behind the 60m ferris wheel need search no more. Me and Guy have found a venue. It has regular visits from ferris wheels, why not stick it on the Level? Great views of London Road!
Dancing on Ice is getting interesting. Swimmer Sharon Davis and judge Jason SomethingOrOther have come to blows over his harsh comments. There’s only way to sort this out, and my money is on Shazza.
Fashion expert Igor popped in to tell us what to wear in Spring. Coloured Chino’s for men and Pirate Trousers for girls! Check out photos on our facebook page.
For style advise check out his website www.personal-style.co.ukNo Peter Andre today. Blame Sky News. Don’t worry we’ll be asking him lots of lovely things at some point soon though. Like “What’s your favourite colour?”
Tomorrow is Friday, a great day for everyone, always! It’s also the last day you can get involved in the online Tune in from 7am.
Guy will also be chatting to Thunderbirds creator Jerry Anderson ahead of the SFX Weekender in Cambersands. - PET SHOP BOYS LIVE ON THE COFFEE TABLEAdded02/03/2010 - 10:47
Hello and welcome to our blog for Wednesday. We kicked off with a corking Power Shower Hour track, Human League’s, ‘Love Action,’ from 1981 and it sounded amazing.
We cleared up the mess on the seafront. In a nutshell it’s no to the ‘O’ and a little bit of the West Pier had to be taken off to make room for the i360.a vertical pier which will give 360 panoramic views of a beautiful part of the world. And Shoreham.
Lucky Lorraine, who lives in Twickenham, won a competition to have Pet Shop Boys perform in her front room. She only had a two, two down but plenty of room for the veteran pop duo. We asked you whom you would like, sitting on your sofa, strumming a guitar and Ange quite fancies James Morrison. Rob only has a studio flat so couldn’t accommodate Blazin’ Squad and Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse not a popular choice, for obvious reasons.
Seven Webster was our special guest today. He is one of the organisers of the SFX Weekender, which kicks off this Friday in Camber. If you’re into your science fiction, then this is the event for you. Amongst all the interactive activities going on, with live bands, comedy and very special guests including THE Dr.Who, Tom Baker and Spike from Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Michael won a pair of tickets to go along for the two-day event.
Join us tomorrow from 7am where we have Peter Andre live in the studio!
(Cue Screaming…)
- Happy TuesdayAdded02/02/2010 - 10:37
Jay-Z and Hard Knock Life was today’s Power Shower Hour.
And it is a hard knock life for Juice Allstars after Propeller Nuts 8-2 beat them last night. Head’s will roll. Probably Guy’s! Do you want to be the new footie manager? Email guyandandrea@juicebrighton .comMums! In between getting the ironing done they’ve made a list of things that annoy them, but we asked you what annoys you about your mum? Guy’s mum keeps hassling him for more gran kids and Darren’s can’t
Hollingbury has disappeared? We’ll have to go the Asda at he marina? It seems the area has been missed off an electoral map. Patcham has swallowed up the area we previously knew and loved. Let the gang warfare commence. And won’t the Hollingbury buses get lost? Nice one Andy who said we should play Rainbow and Since You’ve Been Gone for Hollingbury’s disappearance.
Pamela Anderson wants to move to a seaside town in Britain, so watch out for another celeb in our mists. I’m going to tell her Blackpool is great!
Well done to Tasha who won Odeon tickets in our review with Jonesy earlier. Plenty to check out at the Odeon this Valentines Day and half term, including the new Mel Gibson thriller Edge of Darkness. He’ll be discussing the Razzies in his film forum later.
A new auction site to raise funds for the relief effort in Haiti has been set up.

Good morning and welcome to our blog for Monday morning’s Breakfast Show. It’s February 1st and it’s Foxy’s birthday! Andrea chose the Power Shower Hour track this morning and went for Aretha Frankiln’s ‘Say A Little Prayer.’
We did the obligatory present giving ceremony live on the show. I gave Andrea a ‘sensible’ present and a ‘racy’ present. She got a £10 voucher for Sussex Stationers and a voucher for a burlesque, pole or lap dance for her and two friends. If you want to be one of her two friends, e-mail me now guy@juicebrighton.com. She’s also lying about her age already. She’s actually 25, not 24. Outrageous.
Andrea also had the first of two forfeits over the weekend. Andrea is now an official gully’s girl, check out the video below prior to Albion’s game against Millwall. She did well, we’re very proud of her and she got a signed shirt from the Albion, which we gave away to Gavin for guessing the colour as pink.
Andrea has her end-of year forfeit this Saturday as she does her fitness class live from Churchill Square at 1pm. Look out for more details to follow on the homepage.
We also chatted to TV columnist for the Daily Star, Mike Ward on what we can look forward to on this week. Highlights include the return of the delightful ‘Embarrassing Bodies’ to Channel 4 on Wed and Alan Carr’s ‘Chatty Man, on Thursday, whose guests include Ricky Gervais and Jordan. (Joy).
Thanks for listening this morning. Jonesy will join us tomorrow with an Odeon Film review and ticket giveaway.

- Andrea faces her forfeit...Added01/31/2010 - 21:47As a result of losing way back in November in the Juice Breakfast Quiz, Andrea finally faced her forfeit - and this time there was no excuse of Christmas, New Year or antarctic snow storms to delay proceedings.
After a morning in training, Andrea made a special one-off appearance in Gully's Girls cheerleading squad at Brighton's home match to Milwall... incase you don't recognise ms Fox, she's the one in pink...

As you know, Juice 107.2 is very proud to work with Brighton Pride each and ever year to support Brighton's huge annual event.
It has been announced that Pride took a big financial hit this year - £50,000 down, and its money they need to make back before the end of the year, or there's going to be a major scaling down for 2010.
If everyone who went to Preston Park this year donated just 33p, they'd make that money back.
So PLEASE, if you can spare a few pounds, go to www.justgiving.com/Brightonpride and donate whatever you can. Its Brighton's biggest and best annual event, and the biggest free party in Europe - lets keep it that way!
